Who runs a chapter.

Each chapter is led by a team of student officers. Here's what each role expects and is responsible for.

President

Expectations

  • Passion for working with students, teaching, and educational accessibility
  • Leadership and collaboration with the team
  • Initiative-taking and problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication with parents regarding schedules, attendance, events, and more
  • Continued dedication to creating a successful chapter

Responsibilities

  • Track attendance at each meeting
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents, parent volunteers, the school, and your club advisor
  • Pair student volunteers with Empower tutors
  • Oversee each session and ensure order, student and parent satisfaction, and a quality learning environment
  • Create and/or improve all administrative and organizational documents
  • Lead initiative projects such as fundraising, outreach, and school event participation
  • Award volunteer of the month
  • Help organize, support/attend, and market Empower's spring webinars among the district community

Vice President

Expectations

Responsibilities

  • Train new volunteers
  • Improve upon organizational and administrative documents
  • Clarify current guidelines: coordinate a presentation at the beginning of the year
  • Assist the president's duties
  • Communicate with parents, parent volunteers, the school, and club advisor
  • Fill in for absent officers
  • Manage the chapter email

Secretary

Expectations

  • Attend and be present at most meetings
  • Organization skills
  • Able to manage data and forms
  • Good communication skills

Responsibilities

Tracking
  • Record volunteer hours
  • Create and assign attendance forms
  • Keep accurate and organized records of volunteer participation
Organization
  • Keep records organized and up to date
  • Ensure smooth operations
  • Manage systems of information
Communication & Expansion
  • Update tutors, parents, and officers
  • Send reminders
  • Support expansion efforts by reaching out to potential leaders and organizing chapter details

Treasurer

Expectations

  • Be present at nearly every meeting
  • Demonstrate strong financial skills and manage money responsibly

Responsibilities

  • Manage club funds and fundraising
  • Pay for supplies, snacks, and website costs
  • Reimburse volunteers
  • Apply for grants

Historian

Expectations

  • Be there at most, if not all, club meetings
  • Good with social media and taking clear pictures
  • Good with communication

Responsibilities

Instagram visuals
  • Post the Volunteer of the Month, chosen by the Secretary
  • Post one Reel per week
  • Post a monthly post of volunteer photos
Photos
  • Take pictures of volunteers and students
  • Provide photos for the parent group chat and Instagram
Event flyers
  • Create appealing flyers advertising the club's various events
  • Advertise and promote these events on Instagram
